Some Things Have Happened

Like Jeff and I got engaged (finally!). All that really meant was I got a shiny ring (see: Instagram picture), and now we call each other fiancé/e. Or sometimes fyohnsay or versions thereof if we’re being silly. (Who am I kidding, that’s literally all the time.)

And we went to Denver Comic Con, where we got to take a photo with John Cusack. And my sister and I took a photo with James and Oliver Phelps.

And I met FELICIA FRIGGIN DAY.

Obviously we both got the floral shirt memo.

And then a few days later, we moved back to Japan (finally!). That first bite of sushi was H-E-A-V-E-N.

Seriously though, whose bright idea was it to move to Japan in the armpit of summer? Okay, yes, it was both of ours, though we were meant to have moved in June, not July. Still, it turned out we needed that extra month; even then, June ended up being a blur of packing and moving and loose-end-tying and furious furniture selling.

Some things are yet to happen, like finding a place to call our own. I expect that will occur within the month, if not the week. We just have to make a decision, but decision-making is hard.

And getting cats. Two cats. We shall call them Luna and Artemis. Extra nerd points to whomever knows why I’ve selected those names. Only I don’t know when we’ll be able to get cats, because I’m going to be traveling for work-related reasons sometime in the not-so-distant future. I don’t want to get our kittens, leave, and then return to find them bonded to Jeff and Jeff alone. That would crush my soul.

And wedding planning. Apparently that comes immediately after that whole “engagement” thing. Who knew.

Additionally, one of my best friends and I are collaborating on a comic. Once Jeff and I have settled in, and work load permitting, the first page should be up by the fall. Look forward to me shamelessly plugging that here once we’ve launched it!

Exciting times!
